TIPSO™Airpad
TIPSO™ AirPad is a portable touchless device tailored for surgeons, providing effortless control of procedural imaging within the sterile field. One of the key advantages is its ability to operate seamlessly in sterile environments, where traditional mouse and keyboard usage is restricted. TIPSO™ AirPad works effectively beneath drapes and can even handle fluid exposure, saving valuable time during surgical procedures.
My UX design process for TIPSO™ AirPad focused on creating an intuitive, user-centric experience. Through low, mid, and high-fidelity prototyping, I carefully observed how surgeons interacted with the device and applied their feedback to refine each iteration. This hands-on approach ensured that every touchless gesture and control was designed to meet the real-world needs of surgical workflows, minimizing clicks and simplifying access to essential controls.
The result is a touchless solution that offers a frictionless experience, allowing surgeons to maintain focus and precision during critical tasks, all while adhering to sterile standards. The seamless integration of real-time feedback and touchless navigation ensures efficiency and reliability, even in high-pressure surgical environments.

“It was very useful to have TIPSO™Airpad during the case, because kidneys are difficult to navigate, even when using fluoroscopy scans. Using TIPSO™Airpad to scroll through the live CT scan (conebeam) allowed us to realize that we were in the wrong area.”— Dr. Kari Nelson
